Support the long-term education of girls in Asia and Africa!

BookBuffet has thousands of registered book groups. People just like you who love to read and gather each month to discuss a book. We'd like to challenge just 50 groups to adopt one student each. Raise $250 in time for your next book group meeting and click here to contribute to the BookBuffet Page. Help us realize a goal of $12,500. That's a whole classroom of students sponsored by you, the good readers at BookBuffet. We can do it everyone!

Of the 774 million illiterate people in the world, two-thirds are girls and women. The risks of ignoring this issue are staggering; if each of those 500 million women has four children, it’s likely those additional two billion children will grow up without an educated mother.

Room to Read is working hard to change this. The organization works closely with local communities throughout Asia and Africa to fund the long-term education of young girls. Its holistic Girls’ Education Program provides both material support (school fees, textbooks, uniforms, school supplies, and transportation) as well as supplementary support (tutoring, female mentorship, life skills training, and medical checkups as needed). To date, over 7,000 girls have benefited from the program.

I hope you will join me in partnering with Room to Read as we open the doors of opportunity for thousands more girls in Asia and Africa. Together, we can dream big and create change.
